Overview

The Maurten Bicarb System is an advanced fuel for high-intensity training and racing. It is designed to be consumed 1.5-2 hours before exercise — priming the body to cope better with rising muscle acidity during anaerobic efforts.

The Maurten Bicarb System does for bicarbonate what Maurten Gel 100 and Drink Mixes did for carbohydrates — use Hydrogel Technology to encapsulate the bicarb and carry it through the stomach to be absorbed.

Lactate is not the enemy — it’s a fuel source generated during all-out, high-intensity exercise. It’s the increase in acidity during these efforts that overwhelms the muscles and leads to exhaustion.

Large doses of sodium bicarbonate counteract the negative effects of the rising acidity, but there’s always been a catch — stomach issues that cancel out any performance gains.

Details

The Bicarb System contains a mixing bowl, the hydrogel component, the bicarbonate component, and access to the Bicarb Digital System.

When

Always prepare and consume the Maurten Bicarb System at least 1.5-2 hours before intense exercise and at least an hour after a proper meal, such as breakfast. This is to allow enough time for the mini bicarbonate tablets to reach the intestine and be absorbed.

How

The Maurten Bicarb System consists of three components — 
the bowl (A), the hydrogel (B) and the bicarbonate (C). 

Open the bowl (A) and fill to the line with 200ml of water. Pour in the hydrogel (B), replace the lid, and shake vigorously to mix. Leave for 5 minutes. Open the bowl and pour in the bicarbonate (C). Gently mix with a spoon until evenly distributed through the hydrogel. Consume immediately. Do not chew the mini tablets.
